About Me

For as long as I can remember I've always been a keen artist, filling pages of notebooks with drawings. I studied art to 'A' level and subsequently, under the guidance of a Devon-based landscape artist, developed my early skills with oil paintings of rural scenes.

I immediately built on those early experiences through a mixture of short residential courses to learn more about specific technical aspects and, of course, constant practical experience.

For many years I maintained my interest in art whilst earning a living, selling work privately or distributing it amongst friends. Now, I am fortunate enough to be able to be a full time artist with my own garden studio. I am an exhibiting member of the Reading Guild of Artists and an Accredited Artist for West Berkshire Open Studios. In addition, I have been a featured artist in the national Open Studios initiative and enjoyed solo exhibitions at the Wantage 'Vale and Downland Museum' and 'A Space' in Newbury.

It's fair to say that if I've found a subject interesting I've always been keen to try and capture it, whatever it may be. However, my specialities are very definitely animals - both pets of all and every variety and wildlife - and the broad spectrum of English rural life.

I live in a Berkshire village with my family, Hardy the Labrador, Captain Jack my parrot, some hens, several colonies of honey bees, and numerous goldfish.
